Integrated Mental Health Day Service Overview
The Integrated Mental Health Day Service, initially established in April 2003, is a development in recognition of the ongoing partnership between Clackmannanshire Council and Clackmannanshire Community Health Partnership (CHP). A Service Manager offers a single line management structure to all included services. The Service manager is in turn managed by a Coalition Management Team comprising of the CHP's General Manager and the Head of Social Services. For more information please see our page titled Key Aspects of the Service.
The Integrated Mental Health service consists of:
- The Day Unit, Clackmannan County Hospital (CCH)
- The Community Mental Health Team (CCH)
- The Phoenix Centre (Carsebridge House)
- The Community Access Team (Carsebridge House)
- The Supported Employment Service (Carsebridge House)
- Partnership working with Devon House (SAMH)
The Single Referral Pathway
The Single Referral Pathway offers one shared gateway, with direct access to NHS, Local Authority and core voluntary sector provisions. Teams function collectively to offer the most effective package of support and care. The pathway allows us to direct clients to the most appropriate service at the earliest opportunity, reducing waiting times and the likelihood of misdirection. Potential clients will be offered information on this shared approach to care prior to assessment; their consent to share relevant information will also be sought.
Referrals from primary care are made via the Electronic Referral System.
Preventative Provision
In an effort to provide a greater range of services and to protect the principles of social inclusion, independence and self-determination, a new 'tier' of mental health preventative provision has been established within Clackmannanshire. These preventative provisions are designed to support primary care and to offer a first point of referral, where appropriate, before secondary mental health provision is involved.
Preventative Provisions available:
Scottish Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Awareness Training - 4 staff members from the Integrated Service are qualified instructors to deliver SMHFA training and courses are regularly delivered to our community. We also deliver a 2 hour mental health awareness training course.
Klacksun
Klacksun - our service users network. Klacksun is an organisation, which provides a forum where people with mental health problems consider, review and develop principles and practices in relation to mental health issues. It's prime objective is to empower mental health service users through involvement in all aspects of their care.
Klacksun's website is still under construction - go live date September 2008.
Ochil Carers
Ochil Carers is a support group for relatives and friends of people with mental health problems. The group offers carers the opportunity to become involved and informed about various mental health problems. This could include: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder (manic depression) and psychotic illness (schizophrenia).
We are keen to hear your views on Adult Mental Health Services, locally, as feedback from both users and carers is central to the development of a appropriate service.
