Clackmannan Nursery School serves the village of Clackmannan, Kennet and the neighbouring farm community.
The staff comprises of a teacher, one senior early years' worker, three early years' workers, one supervisory assistant, one school assistant and a nursery administrator. The nursery also has the use of an Authority handyman.
The school offers half day morning and afternoon places plus a few full-time places. There are 50 places available in each of the morning and afternoon sessions. The school provides the flexibility of extended hours.
Clackmannan Nursery is a friendly nursery where staff endeavour to make both parents and children feel welcome and where the environment is conducive to child-centred learning.
The nursery follows the Scottish Government's Curriculum Framework for children 3-5 where all aspects of child development are nurtured and include emotional, personal and social development, communication and language, knowledge and understanding of the world, expressive and aesthetic development and physical development and movement. Nursery programmes and activities also take account of a Curriculum for Excellence promoting successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
Outings are an integral part of the curriculum and are usually organised to supplement certain topics e.g. visits to Morrisons and local garden centres. The pre-school children also take part in the local Church coffee morning and the pre-pre-school children participate in Rhyme Thyme at the local library on the last Thursday of every month.
The nursery staff support pupils with additional support needs. We also work collaboratively with a number of support agencies to ensure co-ordinated support is given through the Authority staged intervention process.
The Parents Association actively supports the nursery in a variety of ways.
The school runs a lending library and encourages parents to become involved in this. A toy lending library is available for parents and children on the first Thursday of every month.
Further information can be obtained by contacting the Nursery at the above address.
