Services to People Support Services
Support Services provides a range of services to schools and to the public, as well as to other Council officers. Support Services comprises four teams and three administration sections:
Attendance and Welfare Team
This Team comprises three Attendance and Welfare Officers, one for each secondary school and its associated primary schools. More information is available on the Attendance and Welfare pages.
Facilities, Schools and Welfare Team
The team comprises ten administrative and support staff, both full and part-time, covering a variety of functions over all divisions within Services To People (Housing, Social Services and Education & Community Services). Functions covered includes reprographics, health and safety, facilities management and premises risk assessment, and recruitment administration. Main school support functions within ‘Education & Community Services’ are as listed below:
- Financial assistance for parents and pupils
- Food in schools
- School catchment areas and placing requests
- Parent Councils
- School Lets
- Schools - term dates, enrolment, etc.
Finance and Administration Team
This Team provides a service mainly to colleagues within the Council, including schools.
Travel and Transport Team
The three full-time and one part-time members of staff in the Travel and Transport Team look after many aspects of travel and transport for Services to People. The team's main focus is on pupil travel to and from school.
- Home to school transport including escorts
- Voluntary Drivers' Scheme
- Use of Council minibuses by voluntary groups
- Service fleet management
- School Crossing Patrol Service
- Safer Routes to School
Administration sections
The Chief Officers' Support, Lifelong Learning Support and Education Development Service Support sections provide administrative support to officers within their area of responsibility.
