- Private Sector total includes estimates based on previous data for Highland Council from 2006 q1.
- Housing Association figures for new build starts are based on the date of approval rather than the date construction started. The majority of Housing Association approvals currently fall within the first quarter of the year.
- Previously published Housing Association figures for 1999-2007 included 7,000 units in private developments funded through the Affordable Housing Investment Programme which had also been included in Private Sector figures, resulting in a slight overestimate of the total amount of new house building during that period.
