Disability Equality Scheme
Impact Assessment
It is recognised that policies do not affect everyone in the same way, the purpose of a disability equality impact assessment is to pre-empt the possibility that a new policy or changes to existing policies and procedures could affect some people with disabilities unfavourably.
Carrying out a disability equality impact assessment is a way of systematically and thoroughly assessing, and consulting on, the effects that a proposed policy or function is likely to have on people, across the organisation and in the community we serve.
The toolkit used to carry out the Disability Impact Assessment for the purposes of this Disability Equality Scheme can be seen at Appendix 2.
