Establish a Community Council in your area
Invitation to Residents of:
Sauchie,
Bowmar area of Alloa, and
Fishcross, Coalsnaughton and Devonside area.
The above three areas in Clackmannanshire do not presently have a Community Council.
What is a Community Council?
Community Councils work with the local authority and other public bodies to determine, co-ordinate and express the views of the community it represents.
Why Have A Community Council?
The establishment and continuation of a Community Council in your area offers you an opportunity to play an important role in promoting the well-being of the neighbourhood you live in, to develop community spirit, and to inform the residents in the area you represent of matters of public concern.
How Can You Become Involved?
In areas where no Community Council is established, 20 electors residing in the area may petition the Chief Executive at any time to hold an election to establish a Community Council. This will be subject to there being no more than two elections in a 12 month period in any one Community Council area.
To be eligible to request a Community Council and stand as a candidate in a Community Council election you must be:
- At least 16 years of age;
- On the Community Councils' Electoral Roll (if 18 or over on the current Electoral Register);
- Resident in the Community Council area you wish to stand for;
- Not be subject to any legal incapacity (further details available on request).
If you are considering setting up a Community Council, you can print off Clackmannanshire Council's Establishment Petition form.
